We are the last house on a dead end road. The house sits back from the road on 10 acres of pristine and private woods. There's plenty of space and privacy for quiet mornings on the deck or gathering with friends and family around the fire-pit at night. Secluded, yet still close to area attractions. LOCAL RESTAURANTS: Table on Ten (featured in Conde Nast and Vogue), in Bloomville, NY. Rustic. Rural. Local Farm to Table. Known for their creative seasonal fare. A gorgeous 15 minute drive away. Our favorite spot for latte's and breakfast. Sundaes 1950's vibe diner. Great for families with kids - grilled cheeses, burgers, good fries, and excellent Ice Cream Sundaes. Antique Car shows in the summertime. About 5 minutes away, on the way to Stamford. Oakleys Local spot for wood-fire pizza, calzones, and burgers. Great selection of beers and friendly staff. Large outdoor deck for warm weather. This is our go-to spot. Outsiders Cafe Quaint Hiking themed Cafe about 7 minutes away. Gluten Free options. On the way to Margaretville. Zephyr Farm to table fare - a bit pricey but well worth it. Brunch on Sundays is amazing. Phoenicia Diner Popular Diner food and hip scene on Highway 28 just outside Phoenicia. About 30 minutes away. The epitome of the Hickster movement. Sweet Sue's Pancakes in dozens of varieties headline the menu at this cozy American breakfast & lunch café. Our favorite spot to indulge. About 20 minutes away in Phoenicia. Peekamoose Restaurant NYC dining in the Catskills. Great for special occasions. Very delicious and only about 15 minutes away. Reservations are highly recommended although we usually prefer to sit at the bar. Lazy Crazy Acres This farm and CSA hosts outdoor pizza nights on Saturdays in summer and fall. Also hayrides and special events around Halloween. Union Grove Distillery in Arkville Featuring cocktails with their award winning Vly Creek Vodka. Bartenders are locals and very friendly. Great fireplace. Free tours and tastings. Cassie’s Cafe/ Chappie's at Night Local home-cooked diner. Great spot to nurse a hangover. At night the cafe transforms into a more elegant dining experience called Chappie's. Serving dinner until 9pm and only a 4 minute driveway! Wayside Cider (Andes, NY - about 15 minute drive) The Tap Room at Wayside Cider is a meeting place, focused on regional beverage, food, friends, and good conversation. In addition to a full range of their ciders (including some fun stuff you can't get elsewhere), they have a range of exciting beers, wines, and spirits from New York state. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Belleayre Mountain Skiing, outdoor activities, lake beach, and a music festival every weekend during the summer. Plattekill Mountain Skiing, outdoor activities, top trails in NY state, and special events. Also known for it's bike trails and races. 8 miles from the Secret Catskills Cabin. Catskill Scenic Trail, a 26 mile rail trail connecting Roxbury and Bloomville open year round for hiking, biking, and horse back riding. Catskill Mountain Club Hiking (check out information on their website) John Burroughs Memorial, just one mile up the road. Walk down Fairway Drive to John Burroughs Memorial Rd and make a left. About ¾ mile you will come to his boyhood home, which is open for tours the first weekend of every month May - Oct. Continue on another ¼ to his memorial site for spectacular views of the Vega Mountain Valley. A great spot to picnic. Adler Lake A lovely drive away, with a 1.5 mike flat hiking loop around it. Swimming. Big Pond and Little Pond are nearby too. Park in Halcottsville (down below, off of Route 30) Walk or jog around the the lake. The loop is almost three miles, and is especially nice in the early morning when the mist rises and the herons and ducks wake up. The full loop takes you .5 mile along Route 30, so watch for traffic. Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm in Halcottsville Rents kayaks, and they have a secret swimming hole that they will let you use after your rental. The Area Reservoirs Now available for canoeing and kayaking, and several companies in the area offer rentals. Paddle in the water that will eventually flow through NYC taps. Two local Golf Courses: Sheppard Hills in Roxbury and the Hannah Golf and Country Club on Route 30. Sheppard Hills is about 4 minutes away. Ulster & Delaware County Scenic Railroad Tours, Arkville Tour the beautiful Catskills in Art Deco, stainless steel vintage trains. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The nearby town of Andes is a gorgeous 25 minute windy drive away, and is full of art galleries and shops. Stop by the Andes Hotel for a meal or a cocktail, and on summer Friday nights, 'Cans and Clams' are cheap out back around the bonfire, usually with live music. PROVISIONS / GROCERY / PHARMACY: Migliorelli Farms Incredible meats and produce. Try the delicious tiramisu to-go. Stop in on the way up from NYC on Route 28. Foodtown Grocery in Margaretville (there's a CVS next door) 10 minutes away, next to BUN ‘N CONE. Usually open until 9pm. Pakatakan Farmer’s Market Only open every Saturday from 9:30-2pm, at the Round Barn, on Route 30. From May-mid October. Lots of local sellers including Wayside Ciders. Amazing Belgian Waffles (was the dessert at our wedding)! Catskills Harvest Farmers Market in Delhi is open Monday, Thursday & Friday 11am - 7pm; Sat & Sun 9am-4pm (about a 20 minute drive away) Roxbury Wine & Spirits Super nice people and great selection of wine and liquor.
